to speak...freely...?...
said a booming voice across the microphone...
"dear electorate!
believe me when i tell u...i, like u, have been dooped by those in office.
they have stolen from u...lied to u...kept u in the dark!...abused your faith in them
...taken away your hope...
your future...
your children have become puppets of a regime where the streets and alcohol are revered...
and, rap artists promote a disrespect to anything remotely resembling a code of conduct,
old values and understanding of application of hard work
and perseverance through blood sweat and tears of the most tiring sort.
dear electorate...!
i promise to change your lives, to give u jobs and together we shall
steal from the rich and beat anybody contrary to our principles into submission.
nobody shall dare to question our version of land expropriation and land invasion for it rightfully belongs to u!
we promise chaos and standstill to the country's economy, we promise to burn schools and stop any citizen from going to work...
we will burn tyres and smash property that is not ours until those in government hear us.
and, when we have ruined the little that we have, then we shall , build a future the Africa way....
broken
more poor than when we started
but...at least...it will be our way."
the microphone went dead...the people cheered...the world looked on...having expected nothing different.
it was the African way after all.
Democracy was a western principle not understood by most...a clever tool to fool the uneducated misinformed mass.
a little voice found it way across the microphone....those in the hall strained to hear
"...beautiful people...i have very little to say...i shall wait for the commissions to reveal the supposed corruption and non-performance of SOE's....how lucky we are to be one of the better African countries and should not focus on challenges such as no electricity...pick up your candles and let us sing kumbaya my Lord, kumbaya...
the world still looked on...puzzled ...fence sitters...the worst of the worst...loyalty was not their strong point.
"fuck this shit!"...said a voice from behind the hall
the world looked on...and smiled...it was time to leave....allow Africa to be its own worst enemy... they would swoop in when Africa would come back a begging for funds to save their sorry asses and still failing SOE's.
