Does age matter? And if yes...how?

That realisation that ones metaphysical in no way matches or ages at the same pace as ones physical. That the longer one lives and the wiser one becomes through ones experiences (the logic being that one should become wiser, rather than not...), the older becomes ones body, the greater the challenge to keep up with that fruitful mind, fed and nurtured through experiences gained.
That youthful curiosity pushing one here, there and everywhere .....the 'younglings' the desire to reach an age more mature for the belief be that the gains and reward's are only for those of a specific age bracket.
Of course they are. They only come with the diligent application of sacrifice in various ways social and professional.
Each day brings exposure to choices that society has to offer.
When all of a sudden, something happens, an epiphany... one has become part of that aged group. Then sets in the battle to gain that youthful freedom of a mind unrestricted.
No problem, the mind is very capable but, things have changed.
The modern society dictates a different set of rules, different set of aspirations, a great emphasis being on keeping those trademarks of age at bay...for that be the most telling sign of age. Thought and action, if not accompanied by a crinkle cut and sagging, is the new way to go...in the hope of cheating father Time.
The dawning of a new area anew culture...the birth of the Hollywood Zombies..... those babes, men and women who have found that needle prick, that surgical table, that push that tuck that 'polishing' of lines out...all in the hope of keeping age at bay. A new society is born and the beginning of the botoxified surgically enhanced mummified being wishing to live forever dummy has taken over. And across the world new standards and aspirations are set.
Unhappy become humans with their natural state of affairs ....
And then there is a pocket full of people that know the true value of life.... that age is but a number.... that can look at themselves and love what looks back, that see the beauty of experience gained through eyes soft, a smile weathered and real and genuine, a body tired yet happy... that knows to hug and love kindly and gently yet passionately for the metaphysical does match the physical and lives in peace with the universe and ones existence. There be no longing to recapture their youth...yes a nostalgic recall and recollection of times good of times youthful but, accepting and knowing of who one is...finding answers and a further adventure not stopped because youth has passed but rather realising the adventure be different, the route to travel be in company different and thought vast and experienced and rich with the knowledge gained.
We may wish that age be but a number but, more challenging is, to be accepting of such a thought and be happy with who one may be....i don't think many are capable of such a concept.
Are you?
