the heart steadfast
whatever one may do in life
for the highest accolades to strive
the heart to be fully involved and captured
with the task at hand enamoured.
girl or boy, it does not matter
any challenges ahead to shatter
for success be the ultimate prize
in choices made and actions taken to be certain and be wise.
once that corner be taken
and the foundations of the here and now be shaken
no turning back, full steam ahead
what could have been, best put to bed.
no guarantees for the heart at hand
yet optimism takes a stand,
why even try if hope and greatness did not peak
why challenge ones comfort, new adventures seek?
because a certainty a directness of what next shall be
did touch the heart and set it free
and even though the mind may doubt
for the heart, there be no turn about.

The heart and mind are individually strong. And if the heart be free, the mind will follow, and work in concert, and their synergy be such that the future opportunities will soon become the here and now. The past remains the past, embedded forever, but to be remembered fondly now and then. But as always, easier said than done.
