defined by choices

Should one be ashamed of being different...sometime to such an extent that society finds one challenging...questioning ones choices and the space one occupies. Are our choices closely linked to the person we are , defining the inner of ourselves, our character, our personality. For when we look at all the choices one has in life, why is it that some dare to dabble in the forbidden, push boundaries, be innovative even when shown proof there is no guarantee of success.
Hearing pros and cons, what is acceptable to society does not stop one in the path chosen....and then, shocked at another's judgement and preconceived idea as to who one may be, defined by the choice one has made.
 Are we not defined by the choices we make... choices made freely?
or
Is it circumstance that makes us braver or more stupid to risk the known for the unknown, a sense of desperate curiosity taking us down a path less considered.

Whatever it may be, i do believe that which we are, that which defines us, an inborn trait that separates us from all others , does influence the choices we make.
As to pier pressure, well, to some it is not as strong and influential as it may be to others.

We are what we are.
We are who we are.
We like ourselves or not.....and best we do....for who else can like us better than we ourselves.
